La Croix Liaud is a beautiful16th century farmhouse set on the edge of the village of Cezais, in the sunny south Vendee. This lovingly restored property comprises of a large 5 bedroom house which sleeps 12 comfortably (it can also be split into 2 separate gites, one of which has 2 bedrooms and the other has 3 bedrooms, offering more privacy), plus a separate 3 bedroom gite which sleeps 6, these can be let either together, which is ideal for larger groups, or independently.  All beds and mattresses are of a high quality, no sofa beds are used. 

This is very versatile accommodation which can be let to suit the size of your group.

ACCOMMODATION

5 Bedroom Farmhouse - comprises of 2 gites, La Pressoise (3 bedrooms) and La Puit a Souhaits (2 bedrooms), these gites can be let separately, or doors can be opened up making it a 5 bedroomed property.

If let as the 5 bedroom farmhouse - La Croix Liaud is a very spacious property set over 2 floors and a mezzanine, the first floor has 4 large bedrooms one with en-suite toilet and hand wash basin, each of the four bedrooms has a double bed and two also have a single bed, a main bathroom with shower cubicle, toilet and wash hand basin and a separate toilet with wash hand basin. Throughout this floor are beautiful oak beams that are complimented by the stained wooden floor and original stone walls. A small step down to the mezzanine floor takes you to the 5th bedroom which has twin beds and the rear stairs down to the ground floor.

The ground floor comprises of a large kitchen/dining room with Vendeen fireplace and wood burner, a further lounge/kitchen/diner with music centre, fireplace and log burner, a separate lounge with TV, DVD player and log burner.

A second larger bathroom with walk in shower, toilet and wash hand basin will also be found on this level.

 

Separated to the 2 separate gites this will be:

Gite "La Pressoise" - 3 Bedrooms sleeps up to 7 people, named after the original grape press which can be found at the entrance to the building. Spacious kitchen-diner which includes oven/hob, fridge freezer, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine etcSeperate living area with comfortable seating, TV etc.Downstairs shower room with WC.Upstairs you will find 3 well proportioned bedrooms, including a double bedroom, a double bedroom with a single bed and twin beds on a mezzanine level. Gite "Le Puit a Souhaits" - 2 Bedrooms which sleep up to 5, named after the Wishing Well at the front of the property.

It offers an open plan kitchen/diner/lounge. Kitchen area includes oven/hob, fridge freezer, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine.

Upstairs you will find a double bedroom with ensuite WC and washbasin.

The second bedroom consists of Double bed and single bed.

Separate 3 Bedroom Gite  -  La Petite Bijou
La Petite Bijou is the owners  new addition for 2013. This  superbly renovated family size  gite has been furnished to a very high standard, incorporating as many of the original features as possible, including stone walls and an original lime stone fire surround to create a calming ambiance.  

The spacious ground floor area has great kitchen facilities if you decide not to eat out  in one of the superb restaurants in and  around the area .

The lounge area will give you all your family needs comfy sofa where you can relax and sip a glass of wine and discuss the day's events. The ground floor also has the master bedroom which looks onto the beautiful courtyard garden in which you have a king size bed , vanity unit with hot and cold water and  ample hanging and  storage space for your personal items.

The main bathroom has a walk in shower, toilet and vanity unit
The upstairs of the gite offers you a further  two bedrooms, the galleried bedroom which overlooks the lounge offers a double bed and generous storage space.

The third bedroom offers  twin beds and good storage space there is also a second toilet  complete with wash hand basin  for your convenience.

OUTSIDE LEISURE 

All this is set in a walled and fenced garden of just over half an acre with a child friendly courtyard, and new for 2011 a dedicated games room housing table tennis, pool table and table football plus an indoor play area and seating.

The 6 metres x 11 metres (and 1.2 metres deep) swimming pool is set within a large grass playing area with basketball net and children's play area. Swimming pool is heated by solar panels.  

A toilet with baby changing table is available adjacent to the swimming pool.

The garden is also a lovely place to sit in the evening to watch the beautiful Vendeen sunsets, and then the millions of stars in the late evening sky.

The stone built summer house is set within the courtyard and is equipped with satellite TV, and comfortable seating. A terraced area also within the courtyard has a barbeque, tables with sunshades to shade you from the Vendeen sun.

There are many nooks and crannies to sit and relax in the garden area's or shelter from the sun within the covered pressoire area. Pass through the pressoire into the front garden of La Croix Liaud to the working well area where you can enjoy a game of boules, or just sit at one of the tables in the enclosed garden complete with a charcoal BBQ and relax with a glass of wine after a day exploring the Vendee.

Security deposit will be £400 for the 5 bedrooms farmhouse (or £250 per gite if let independently) and £250 for the Petite Bijou gite  - fully refundable if no damage to property and left in a clean and tidy condition.

Thank you for  a wonderful holiday.  The kids loved the pool, indoor and outdoor play areas, and so did the adults when the kids went to bed!  The indoor play area was great as the little ones could play in a secure area whilst under the watch of the adults whilst playing snooker etc.  Teenagers made great use of the TV lounge too.  Hope to see you again.  S P 

 

Great location with lots to do.  Swimming pool was a bit hit and wonderful to find quiet corner somewhere to relax.  The gite was very spacious and had everything that we required. Loved it.  T L

We had a fabulous stay at La Puit a Souhait / La Croix Liaud in the Vendee. The farmhouse/gite was clean and extensively equipped, even with all baking utensils! The rooms were well decorated and furnished and the beds were one of the best ones we've had on holidays! The courtyard between the different units had well tended gardens complete with fruit trees and was a great socialising venue for all the different families staying. We all had fun star gazing and watching shooting stars in the clear night sky! The games room was great to keep everyone busy. Our host Jenny was very friendly and helpful. The venue was also well placed for visiting loads of attractions near us i.e. La Rochelle, Apremont, Marais Poitevin, Puy Du Fou. Having a nice big hypermarket within 10 mins drive was indeed a bonus. My husband also liked the fact that the house is in a quiet location which meant better sleep at night for him:-) Keep up the great work, this place is definitely well recommended!!

 

 

 

 

LOCATION

La Croix Liaud is located in a quiet rural location on the outskirts of Cezais, yet only 5 minutes from the village of Vouvant (one of the prettiest villages in France) where you will find, boulangerie, cafe/bar, restaurant etc.
They have a "bread lady" visit the property twice a week to deliver a choice of breads to the door.
10 minutes from Mervent which is fantastic for walks, cycling, fishing, lovely picnic areas, it even has a zoo and Pierre Brun play/activity park. 

Xanton Chassenon lakeside beach is approx 10 minutes drive away, this is a great place for safe bathing (lifeguards), water sports, picnic area, toboggan slides, childrens play area etc
The nearest town of La Chataignerie is approx 10 minutes drive and the Rennaissance town of Fonteney le Comte with lots of lovely cafes,restaurants, shops, hypermarkets etc approx 20 minutes drive.
Trout fishing lake just 5 minutes away - you will need a permit, which is not difficult to get.
