May Cottage is located close to the historic town of Fontenay-le-Comte with its lively Saturday market. The 2 bedroomed cottage has lots of character and is within a short walking distance of the village supermarket, bank, bakery (with great bread and patisseries), post office and tabac.
 In July and August the village also offers a public open-air swimming pool with slides.

GUESTS HAVE EXCLUSIVE USE OF ALL FACILITIES ON SITE.

 

 

ACCOMMODATION

As the cottage is our 'second home' we have tried to make it as comfortable as possible for ourselves and for our visitors too. 
There is a large beamed sitting/dining room - with an original fireplace and wood burner - furnished with a sofa, chairs, table lamps, dining table, bookcase, flat screenTV (British stations), DVD, games, books etc..

Each of the bedrooms ( 1 double bedroom and 1 triple room) contains a wardrobe, chest of drawers, bedside tables, rugs and bedside lamps. A hair dryer is provided, and all the beds have electric blankets! 
Steps lead from the sitting room to the fully equipped kitchen/breakfast room, furnished with table and chairs and which also contains a pulley-style clothes airer. Equipment includes as much as possible to make self-catering easy: a toaster, blender, slow-cooker, coffee machine and grinder; and there is an ample supply of crockery, glasses, cutlery and saucepans. 
The shower room has a w.c. and basin, with a wet-room style shower, towel rail and cabinet. 
The cottage is on mains drainage, central heating is by mains gas.  

 

Guests will have exclusive use of all facilities.

 

OUTSIDE LEISURE 

The property is South Facing which means that the house, garden and terrace benefit from all day sunshine; and the garden is completely unoverlooked.  Patio furniture, sunloungers and of course, a Barbeque!
Off road parking.
Although there is no swimming pool at the property, there is a large village pool with slides which is open to the public in July and August for a nominal fee.

Prices are per week and include all utility bills, 
Bed linen and towels are available to hire should you wish to do so, at a cost per week of £9 double, £5 single. Towels are also available at a cost of £6 per set - a bath and a hand towel - per person per week. Tea towels are provided.  You will need to bring pool/beach towels with you.
 In line with other properties, we ask for a security deposit of £100 , refundable if there is no damage to the property and it is left in a clean, tidy condition.

Saturday changeover day  Arrivals after 4pm and departures by 10am

LOCATION

The lovely property is located in the village of St Martin Des Fontaines, L'Hermenault village is just 2km away and has a small supermarket, boulangerie, pharmacy, 2 banks (24 hour cashpoints), post office, tabac, English speaking doctor and dentist etc.St Martin des Fontaines has a bar/restaurant with a good choice of meals and a takeaway pizza - only 10 minutes walk away.

The nearest town is Fontenay le Comte and is approx 15 minutes drive away offering a variety of hypermarkets, restaurants and cafes etc. A lovely renaissance town which must be seen.

The property has an excellent location, with the beautiful city of La Rochelle and the exclusive island of Ile de Re being only 45 minute drive away.

Beaches also approx 40 minute drive.

There is plenty to do in the area whether your interests are water sports, walking, cycling, horse riding, visiting museums, tourist attractions, wine tasting the list goes on and on. Whatever your age and interests the Vendee has something to offer everybody.
